Distracted drivers and distracted pedestrians can be a lethal combination, so we strongly recommend parking your car on a nearby side street and walking past the dazzling houses. Some of the more popular areas are very busy with people wandering around (many with small children), so please take care. The City of Ryde participates in the Lights for Kids campaign to raise money for children at the Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead each year. Lights cover the windy, tree-lined streets, making the area look utterly magical. We recommend parking the car around the corner and taking this festival of lights in by foot. Visit Mosman’s annual Christmas Night Market on Thursday 12 December, to celebrate the tastes and flavours of the festive season. There'll be festive events and parades to celebrate his arrival, so try and lock in a visit for opening weekend. There’s something for everyone—classic Santa snaps, storytime sessions with Santa and Mrs Claus, pet-friendly shoots, and even ugly Christmas sweater photos (they’ll supply the sweaters, don’t stress).
