The Mornington Peninsula is recognised as one of Australia’s premier regions for cool-climate Pinot Noir, and at Montalto it’s our defining varietal. Flanders also sees a growing consumer awareness of those differences, where people are genuinely interested in the difference between say Tuerong and Merricks. “Then again, there are a lot of people that just think Mornington is Mornington and Yarra Valley is Yara Valley,” he says, noting that there is a general view of Mornington pinots being on the more fruit-rich side. Previously the Charles Sturt graduate started as his career as the winemaker at Willow Creek and has had winemaking roles at Heathcote Estate, Yabby Lake and Clyde Park. At Montalto, Black’s wines have been received with much critical claim and have garnered numerous awards. Amy Oliver completed a business degree in her early 20s, with a working holiday to the UK developing a love for hospitality and the wines of the world. A corporate career followed, but wine never left her thinking, completing her WSET 3 qualification while working as a project manager. That immersion saw her permanently spin off into wine, with stints working as an assistant sommelier at Andrew McConnell’s Cutler & Co, as well as the role of head sommelier at Neil Perry’s Rockpool Dining.
The name Maressa (from the Latin "maris" meaning "of the sea"), is a nod to the noble maritime history of the Port Phillip Bay area. The wine is quite focused with fresh fruit and persistent acidity driving the palate. The earthiness is reminiscent of previous vintages, a characteristic that we now regard as a hallmark of this Burn Cottage site. The 2021 vintage brought lower than average yields and cooler conditions throughout the growing season. Fruit quality was excellent with small bunches and berries providing superb concentration of flavours, fine supple tannins and good acid balance. During a career researching and teaching neuroscience at Monash University, Nadeson founded Lethbridge Estate with his partner Maree Collis.

Dark redcurrant, wild herb, greengage and plum aromatics lead to a rich warmly textured mouthfeel showing great density, drive and length. Due to the warmer season, the palate delivers delicious dark fruits and savoury flavours which are complemented by fine-grained tannins. This wine was aged in a blend of new and seasoned French oak barriques for 10 months. Bright and aromatic, the nose delivers raspberry, strawberry and red cherry with savoury spice notes.
Aromas of spiced rhubarb, juicy red cherries, Asian five spice and vanilla mingle with earthy notes and the distinct fruity spice notes of sassafras forest. It develops with spices from the whole bunch inclusion and French oak barrels. The palate is elegantly structured, offering a harmonious interplay of vibrant acidity and silky tannins. Mid-palate, the wine reveals layers of cranberry and pomegranate, complemented by a whisper of earthy minerality.
Sappy, moreish and complex, this wine can be enjoyed now but will gain interest over the medium term. Elegantly structured palate, presenting refined flavours of red cherry, ripe raspberry, and subtle cranberry, complemented by nuanced layers of gentle spices, subtle black tea leaf, and earthy minerality. Polished tannins and lively acidity ensure impeccable balance and sophisticated elegance. Light and feathery, with nutty flavours, bright acidity, a fine powdery tannin texture, and a firm red cherry and red fruited finish.
Mansons Farm Pinot Noir is hand crafted in very limited quantities. Our 2016 is medium ruby red in colour with a bouquet of black cherry, savoury brown spice, and notes of baronial flower. On the palate, a dense, dark berry entry and hints of spice are supported by an elegant tannin structure. Dark cherry and spice aromas integrate nicely with a hint of forest floor (sous bois).

After living and working in Tasmania making wine for a number of premium vineyards throughout the state the time has come for us to release our own wines alongside working with our existing clients. Intensely aromatic, a darker fruit spectrum and complex savoury spice is interwoven seamlessly with firm, structural tannin. Sweat and sour cherries, earth, spice and a lovely elegant structure. Picardy Pinots exhibit finesse and complexity, inspired by the great Pinot Noir wines of the old world.
The 2020 opens with a burst of vibrant fruit, reminiscent of freshly made cherry compote. On the palate, the bright raspberry notes are complemented by a well-structured acidity that seamlessly weaves in with fine graphite tannins. The wine strikes a perfect balance, with each element contributing to a harmonious whole. Simply put, this is a gorgeous wine that begs to be savoured again and again. Typically fragrant with strawberry, raspberry and cranberry fruit, layered with savoury notes of spice, earth and forest floor, underpinned by fine acidity and silky tannins.
Rich mouth filling dark plum, ripe cherry, strawberry and anise flavours are layered across the mid weighted palate. Concentrated and fleshy textured it has polished yet underlyingly sturdy tannins. Bright notes of fresh raspberry, cherries and black pepper on the nose with an underlying layer of mineral and cacao. On the palate, it’s persistent with generous red fruits, cedar, subtle game, and a dusting of aniseed. The 2024 Pinot Noir reveals enticing aromas of red and black fruits mingled with spice and earthy undertones.
There is no better way to describe this wine other than a quintessential Mount Mary Pinot noir. The nose opens with a hint of nougat, cranberries, stewed strawberry and quince. The palate is silky and seamless and flows effortlessly from front to back. Red fruit flavours dominate; namely cherry and strawberry with nuances of rhubarb and various root vegetables. This wine sees 20% new oak, adding a buttered mushroom creaminess to the mid palate.
